Guts by Raina Telgemeier is an autobiographical graphic novel that you will love. Raina wakes up one night with a terribly upset stomach. Her mom has one too, so it is probably just a bug. Raina eventually returns to school where she is not having the best time dealing with things like friends, enemies, and classmates who thought the year was good then saw that it was not the best time. Her stomach isn’t getting better and she has a lot of worries about food, school, and friendships. What's going on? I love this book and recommend it because it is amazing. I read it in one day during a car ride. My mom said “we have to go to the pool!” but I said “no!” and just kept reading. This book is great. You will get sucked in. Recommended by G.C.

The book I was reading is called Who Was Anne Frank? by Ann Abramson. The book was about a girl named Anne Frank who was 13 and started writing a diary about hiding from the Nazis. The reason the Franks were hiding was because they were Jewish and the Nazis wanted to take them away and put them in prisons or kill them. The Franks moved a few times to escape the Nazis. Eventually the Nazis caught the Franks and put them in concentration camp. The whole family died except for Otto Frank. Then Otto published Anne’s diary and now it's very popular. I thought the author explained Anne's life well. I felt like I was right there with the Frank family. If you like learning about history you should read this book. Recommended by J.G. |
